Darren Watkins Jr.[1] (January 21, 2005) [20 years old], better known online as iShowSpeed is an American YouTuber and rapper from Cincinnati, Ohio. He is best known for his gaming & entertainment livestreams and for gaining over 1 million subscribers in a matter of days in 2021. He started to gain fame when his fanbase started publishing memes about him on TikTok.

Early life[]

Darren Watkins Jr. was born on January 21. in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States of America. He is currently 20 as of 2025. The majority of his childhood was spent in his hometown. Darren has been fascinated by YouTube and video games since he was a child. At some point, when he was young his father and mother divorced, as he stayed with his mother.

Personal life[]

Darren’s family has been kept under wraps as he has not revealed anything about them. Only his dad's identity was revealed, and he also has a youtube channel called "DaddySpeed". It was hard for Darren to make his parents understand what he as a YouTuber would do, and when he got 100k subscribers on YouTube, his mother gave him a cold reaction that made him upset

IShowSpeed is a main channel created by Darren. He created his account on March 21, 2016. On December 21, 2017, Darren published his first video titled {2K18} {First Video}.[2] 7 days later, Darren published his first livestream about "Fortnite".[3] In the summer of 2021, Darren started pranking in Omegle on his livestream.

On June 30, 2021, IShowSpeed almost hits 1 million subscribers, but he lost subscribers each time. Later, IShowSpeed finally hits 1 million subscribers.[4] When IShowSpeed hit 10 million subscribers, the same day he received a Community Guidelines strike by YouTube for showcasing a sexual Minecraft modifier on his screen. A few weeks later, Darren was arrested by the Cincinnati Police Department for an unconfirmed reason, but was later released the following day.

On August 9, 2022, Darren was arrested after getting swatted by following a staged prank call with the Cincinnati Police Department. Darren eventually sorted everything out with the cops and went back to streaming the next day.

Racist Accusations[]

On December 6, 2022 Darren travelled to Qatar for the 2022 FIFA World Cup for the Portugal vs Switzerland game. He decided to livestream the event, but his phone was having technical issues. However, a clip started to surface online that shows Darren confronting a Chinese fan wearing an Argentina jersey. The fan appears confused at the question of why he is wearing the jersey, so Darren responds several times with the Japanese greeting "konnichiwa", despite the fact that the fan repeatedly insists that he is Chinese.

"IShowMeat" Incident[]

While playing Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach and the Ruin DLC, Chica jumpscares him and Speed on the other hand got too scared and screamed at his game. He yells at Chica and thrusts the Stream Camera. He later stated that he didn't have any clean underwear after the incident and how they would feel if the same thing happened to them. Soon, people started to bully him and call him "IShowMeat" after the Incident.

On February 17, 2022, Darren was almost hit 5 million, and Ben was becoming his friend. But Darren says "Are you my friend?", Ben not question him, and Ben did not become his friend again.

A few months later, Darren says "Are you 40?", and Ben says yes.

In March 2022, Darren buys his toy, but He farts all the time, When's he clicked.[8]

After reaching the end of level game crashes, plays distorted scream and opens notepad, shocking and confusing Darren at same time. After closing the notepad, he tries to restart the game. The game refers to Darren as speed, shocking him.

"How you know my name?!"

Game then takes control of mouse, tossing it across the screen. The game then threats Darren. As the dialog ends, game continues on a cliff, Catto Boi jumps down and Catto Boi gets crushed trough spikes. Game restarts again, Darren is still confused how this game knows his name, before going off. Darren then finds easter egg with a dancing pug.

"Wait, really, I am getting trolled, bro. And what the fuck is that dog? BARK-BARK-BARK. I am getting trolled, bro. I gotta be getting- I gotta be getting trolled, bro. No way.."

After reaching the end of level and getting jumpscared by unknown entity, without any reaction, more confused how it's creates notifications. Game again takes control of mouse, and then replaces the desktop wallpaper with distorted roar. Darren is ultimately shocked, then he puts his hand of monitor before extremely loudly screaming and then stream ends up.
